Representing our client, a well-known retail brand, we are searching for a skilled Test Engineer to join their team.
About the Role
Our client is looking for a Test Engineer with a strong understanding of functional and non-functional testing to join their lean, collaborative team. Based in Māngere, this role is critical in ensuring their technology delivers a seamless experience for both customers and franchisees.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a well-known retail business in a fast-paced, agile environment. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL expertise, some experience with automation, and knowledge of CMS or retail systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Functional & Non-Functional Testing: Define, develop, and execute both manual and automated test cases across web and point-of-sale applications.
- Test Planning & Execution: Identify test requirements, set up environments, and perform comprehensive testing to ensure high-quality software.
- Defect Management: Log, track, and resolve issues in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest testing trends and tools in New Zealand to enhance testing processes.
- Collaboration & Agile Approach: Work closely with developers, business analysts, and key stakeholders, participating in stand-ups, retrospectives, and planning sessions.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong understanding of functional and non-functional testing methodologies.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a testing role, preferably in retail or CMS-based environments.
- Advanced SQL skills – ability to write complex queries and validate backend data.
- Some experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, or similar).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a passion for continuous learning.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative mindset – this role requires a strong team player who thrives in a lean working environment.
