About the Company:
We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong understanding of finance, change management, and SAP project environments to join our Wellington-based government team for a 12-month contract. If you enjoy supporting users, solving business issues, and working within structured project and portfolio environments, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
About the Role:
This role provides a mix of business-as-usual (BAU) and project-focused support. You will guide users through system processes, support portfolio and project financials, and manage minor changes to SAP functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Business-as-Usual Support
- Respond to day-to-day queries, such as “How do I…”
- Investigate and resolve business issues, including error correction
- Identify and trace root causes of process issues or data anomalies
- Provide support from a finance lens, such as identifying the origin of financial entries
Change Management
- Manage and support minor enhancements in SAP functionality
- Follow ITSM-aligned change processes, including:
- Change and release documentation
- Unit and System Integration Testing (SIT)
- Solution documentation
- Assess and communicate change impacts to business stakeholders
Technical & Functional Skills
Project and Portfolio Management Support
- Experience with SAP Portfolio and Project Management (PPM) 5.0 preferred
- Understanding of project and portfolio structures essential
- Familiarity with SAP Project Systems (ECC6)
- Understanding how project costs are captured and integrated with core FI-CO modules
- Support users in reporting and analysing project financials
About You:
- Proven project or programme management experience in large or complex environments
- Strong financial literacy and ability to interpret and support finance-related data
- Excellent communication skills – able to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong investigative and problem-solving abilities
- Government or public sector experience is advantageous
