L3 Red Hat Linux Engineer - Ansible

About the Role:

We’re currently seeking a seasoned Level 3 Red Hat Linux Engineer for a 6-month contract with one of our key clients in Wellington. This role will see you working on business-critical infrastructure, automation, and support tasks within a fast-paced enterprise environment.

The ideal candidate will be a Linux specialist with deep expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Ansible automation, and a strong background in systems engineering and enterprise support.

 

 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Provide Level 3 support for enterprise Red Hat Linux systems
  • Develop and manage Ansible playbooks and automation pipelines
  • Support patching, upgrades, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
  • Work with internal teams on infrastructure improvements and change management
  • Contribute to security hardening, monitoring, and compliance initiatives
  • Assist in project delivery and operational handover documentation


About You:
 
  • Proven experience as a Linux Engineer at L3 level, ideally in an enterprise or government setting
  • Strong hands-on experience with RHEL 7/8/9
  • Advanced knowledge of Ansible for configuration management and automation
  • Scripting experience (e.g. Bash, Python)
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and change/release processes
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement ability
 

Nice to Have:
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent
  • Exposure to satellite server, OpenShift, or other Red Hat tools
  • Experience in hybrid cloud or virtualised environments
