About the Role:


We are seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to support the curriculum and Assessment Change Programme. The national curriculum for schooling in New Zealand is undergoing a significant update, aiming to make it knowledge-rich, internationally comparable, and clear on the knowledge, skills, and evidence-based teaching practices students need from Years 0 to 13. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the redesign workstream contributing to the future of education in New Zealand.


As a Project Manager, you will be responsible to supporting assigned teams to successfully deliver project plans and outcomes on time, within scope, and to the required quality standards. This is a hands-on role working on a critical project.


Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Develop project variation documentation in line with the programme framework and required standards.
  • Coordinate with and support the Programme Management Office (PMO) on programme administration, reporting, and updates.
  • Support the Programme Schedule and ensure that effective reporting processes are in place.
  • Facilitate team delivery by managing, eliminating, or escalating impediments that hinder progress toward achieving Increment Plan objectives.
  • Identify and track project risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and constraints, ensuring they are properly captured and entered into appropriate registers.
  • Develop and implement mitigation plans for risks and action plans for issues, monitoring all items through to resolution or closure.
  • Lead and participate in team and programme meetings, driving alignment and communication across all stakeholders.
  • Assist in managing supplier deliverables and contract management processes to ensure seamless delivery.


About You:
 
  • Proven experience in project management, ideally within complex, multi-faceted programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, templates, and frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage stakeholders.
  • Experience in risk and issue management, with a proactive approach to identifying solutions.
  • An understanding of the New Zealand education system and curriculum would be advantageous
  • Government Sector experience.
  • Strong organisational skills with a keen eye for detail, ensuring all aspects of the project are well-documented and delivered on time.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and manage multiple priorities.
