About the Organisation:
Half Moon Bay Marina, located in East Auckland, has a rich history dating back to its initial development in the early 1970s. In 1980, the Auckland Maritime Foundation, a charitable trust established by the late Sir Earl Richardson, acquired the marina.
In the early 2020s, a two-year expansion project was completed, adding 94 large berths and upgrading existing facilities, marking the marina's 50th anniversary.
Today, Half Moon Bay Marina stands as a world-class leisure boating facility, with a Master Plan for development, strong balance sheet, significant commerical property portfolio and excellent reputation in the marine and local communities.
With a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, customer service, and community engagement, the marina offers berthage, haul-out services, and modern amenities. The Auckland Maritime Foundation oversees the marina’s operations, ensuring long-term success and reinvestment into the marine sector.
About the Role:
The Chief Executive role is essential to leading the strategic direction, operational management, and ongoing development of Half Moon Bay Marina precinct. This position ensures that the marina operates efficiently, remains financially sustainable, and continues to meet the evolving needs of its customers and stakeholders. The Chief Executive is responsible for implementing the Master Plan, overseesing the commerciality framework, maintaining high service standards, monitoring the regulatory requirements to operate, and driving growth while upholding the foundation’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement.
About You:
With oversight from the Board, and support from a talented staff team, the General Manager will provide visionary leadership, listen to stakeholders and customers to deliver a seamless and high-quality marina experience including to the surrounding community. You will lead strategic initiatives that enhance infrastructure assets, optimise operations, and strengthen customer relationships. By championing sustainability, delivering world-class facilities and customer service, and identifying new revenue opportunities, you will position Half Moon Bay Marina precinct as a leader in the maritime industry.
You will have a close relationship with Board as well as staff and proactively set the pace. You will take a lead in the development of strategy and commercial planning in a close relationship with the Board in these processes. You will demonstrate commercial and partner acumen, attention to detail across contracts and regulatory requirements, along with a strong motivation to bring about positive change and staff development.
