About the Role:
The Group Payroll Specialist role is pivotal in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for multiple entities within the organisation. Outsourced to Datacom, responsibilities include updating employee information, reviewing timesheets for discrepancies, processing payroll changes such as transfers and terminations, and liaising with relevant stakeholders to resolve payroll-related issues. The role also involves maintaining compliance with legislative requirements, privacy policies, and company procedures. Additionally, the Group Payroll Specialist provides reporting and analysis to support decision-making processes, manages stakeholder relationships, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance team.
This role is 40 hours per week, offering flexible start times, and 1-2 WFH days per week once settled.
Responsibilities:
- Update and maintain employee information in the Datacom system.
- Review timesheets for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies with managers.
- Process payroll changes such as transfers, promotions, and terminations.
- Liaise with Datacom for payroll processing and resolve any system issues.
- Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with legislative requirements and company policies.
- Post payroll costs and reconcile relevant general ledger accounts.
- Handle employee queries and provide timely responses.
- Prepare and file employment-related returns and reports (PAYE, KiwiSaver, ACC, etc.).
- Provide reporting and analysis to support payroll approvals and decision-making.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and communicate effectively with staff and managers.
- Provide administrative support to the GM People and Performance.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to team initiatives.
- Assist with ad-hoc tasks and projects as required by the finance team.
About You:
- 4-5+ years end to end NZ payroll experience processing large multiple payrolls
- Sound understanding of NZ payroll legislation and Holidays Act
- Ability to pick up processes and systems efficiently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritise
- Accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Calm, diligent, dedicated, focused on deadlines and delivery of outcomes.
