General Manager

About the Company:

Topcoat Specialist Coatings, founded in 1993, is a national leader in industrial coating solutions, delivering epoxy flooring, waterproofing systems, and concrete repair services to high-profile clients across the country.

Known for its exceptional customer service and technical expertise, Topcoat operates from Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown, Waikato, and Dunedin, supported by 100 staff and subcontractors. The business has a proven track record of profitability and is poised for growth as its founder transitions to a non-executive director role.

About the Role:

This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role at a thriving, family-oriented business.

As General Manager, you’ll oversee Topcoat’s North Island operations while driving national performance and growth. With the potential to evolve into a Group GM role, you’ll manage operations, optimise newly integrated services, and explore potential new markets.

Working closely with the Directors and senior leaders, you’ll align branch operations, foster collaboration, and implement technology and process improvements to ensure continued success.

About You:

We’re looking for a commercially savvy, people-focused leader with a strong operational background and a proven ability to manage large projects and dispersed teams.

Ideally, you’ll bring experience in fields like civil engineering, quantity surveying, or project management, and be familiar with managing contracts, mitigating risks, and driving strategic growth.

Your leadership style will be pragmatic, approachable, and well-suited to a close-knit, family-oriented business culture.

This is your chance to lead a respected, high-performing business into its next phase of growth and operational excellence.
