Principal Business Advisor

About the Role:

As the Principal Business Advisor, you will play a crucial role in providing strategic and operational support to our leadership team. Your expertise in financial monitoring will be vital as you help prioritise departmental and non-departmental resources within Vote Health, maximising value and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Monitoring: Develop and lead robust financial monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track performance against agreed plans and budgets, ensuring alignment with Ministry objectives and Health Crown entity performance.
  • Strategic Advice: Offer timely, accurate, and meaningful strategic and operational advice to tier 2 and 3 managers, the CFO, and Deputy CFOs, enabling them to make optimal business decisions regarding performance measures, annual plans, and budgets.
  • Investment Viability: Provide insightful analysis on the viability of investment decisions and articulate financial risks and opportunities to enhance value from Vote Health spending.
  • Post-Investment Appraisal: Support post-investment appraisals of business initiatives, ensuring ongoing evaluation and optimisation of financial performance.

About You:

We are looking for:
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze detailed financial and non-financial data and communicate findings in clear, straightforward terms.
  • Financial Advisory Experience: Demonstrated experience providing proactive, high-quality financial advice, analysis, and interpretation related to business performance.
  • Relationship Management: Excellent stakeholder relationship management skills, with the ability to engage effectively both internally and externally through consultation and partnership.
  • Dynamic Environment: Proven capability to operate effectively in a high-performing and evolving environment, managing pressure and deadlines with ease.
  • Influencing Skills: Ability to coach, mentor, and influence staff and stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
