Export Market Manager - Japan

About the Role:

The Export Market Manager will be fully responsible for the strategy and delivery of the Blends (sugar and milk powder) business through Japan. The blends business has been a long-established part of the NZ Sugar portfolio. Despite that, it has been identified as an area capable of significant growth, due to the unique market conditions in Japan pairing with NZ Sugar’s state-of-the-art sterilising plant used to manufacture the blends. With bold ambitions for growth, this role is business critical, and part of the wider NZ Sugar leadership team, with full ownership of the P&L for the Blends business. This role will work closely with the two major distribution partners in Japan to provide strategic direction, increase their capability and hold them accountable to sales delivery. This role will also meet with major B2B customers in market and uncover opportunities for new business.

About You:

  • Proven track record in an export sales role with a dairy business. You must be able to understand the nuances of milk powder and the complexities involved with export sales.
  • Strong internal influencer. This role will work cross-functionally with multiple functions and you must be able to influence key stakeholders across Marketing, NPD, Operations to deliver.
  • Exceptional customer relationship skills with successful track record in negotiation of high value supply agreements.
  • Ability to speak Japanese will be looked on favourably.
  • Travel to Japan required 3 times per year.
