About the Organisation:

The Bruce Pulman Park Trust was established through the vision of Bruce Pulman in 2001, and has developed into a significant and active South Auckland based community hub of indoor and outdoor sport and recreation. The Park and organisation are focussed on the development of youth, community recreation and competitive sport. With Olympic standard facilities it can host local social sports all the way to international test matches.

The Park’s model embraces community partnerships and volunteerism. Our trustees and staff contribute their expertise to create an embracing and positive environment that is well-grounded in our South Auckland community and supportive of our clubs and community organisations. 


About the role:

The Appointment Panel represented by Bruce Pulman, Auckland Council and Counties Manukau Sport is recruiting a new Trust Board to lead the Park to its next phase of growth and development in line with the Park’s vision. We see the future as exciting and anchoring both sport and hauora for a huge number of people across Auckland. These are paid governance roles.

What we are looking for is a governance team who will empower the vision we have for the Park, and balance its role in the South Auckland community through a lens of sustainability. This kind of governance is invested and turns up to events, will be a regular at the Park and is motivated to bring their governance skills to the table because of the work the Park does. 

You will combine a deep passion for community, understanding of the Park’s connection to users  with the balance of sustainable community and commercial outcomes.

This is a complex organisation with many staff, large asset base, funding requirements and the need for excellence in engagement and customer ethos to Park users.


About you:

We are looking for a team, comprising of a Chair plus 4 Trustees, that represent the profile we have talked about. 

In that team we are looking for the following mix of skills:

  • Not For Profit and Community-facing governance
  • Connectiveness to the South Auckland community or its recreation activities
  • Thought leadership into the future of recreation facilities, sport and community engagement
  • Competencies in grants, sponsorships and funding negotiations
  • Multicultural acumen
  • Financial strength with experience in the community facing or Not- For-Profit environment
  • Governance strengths who can chair committees and the Board
  • Networks and relationships that can be leveraged for the Park’s future
