About the Company:

Our client is a market leading, multi-site retail and consumer flooring brands group with a national presence, who have grown significantly in the last decade.
The company has a strong foundation built on family values, and has scaled impressively both organically and via acquisition, supported by long-term private equity investment. They have a strong reputation for excellent quality of product and service amongst both consumers and trade customers.  

About the Role:

The General Manager will take an active role in the leadership and day to day running of the business, as the family CEO transitions into a less operational role.  
The General Manager will have accountability for key aspects of the operations of the business and work closely with the Board to set the strategy and priorities for the team, to capitalise on market opportunities to expand and build market share.    
Key responsibilities include:

  • Development and execution of the strategic plan
  • Implement and improve operational systems, creating efficient processes and driving best practice
  • Build strong long-term business relationships with clients
  • Functional oversight of department heads including retail operations, logistics, finance, trade and commercial activities
  • Lead and manage a high-performance team, fostering a culture of excellence throughout the company
  • Identify and capitalise on new market opportunities, product innovations and industry trends
About You:
  • You will be a highly personable Managing Director / General Manager who can lead a branded business with a well established reputation
  • Proven track record of driving growth, profitability, and market share in a multi-site retail or consumer products environment
  • SME experience, ideally within the building sector, and on an upward trajectory
  • Exceptional leadership skills, who will be a visible presence, and can motivate and inspire a company of over 100 employees
  • Strategic mindset who is highly credible at Board level, but can be hands-on when required
  • Strong generalist, who has overseen multiple functional areas within a business
This role will require someone based primarily in Auckland, with some national travel as required
