In October 2021, after many years of negotiation, the Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki Nui-a-Rua Deed of Settlement was signed. 

I
n December 2022, the Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki Nui-a-Rua Claims Settlement Bill passed its third and final reading in Parliament.

These were momentous occasions for the people of Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki Nui-a-Rua and, led to the establishment of the Investment Trust, by the Settlement Trust. 


The Investment Trust is dedicated to creating a reliable revenue stream through a low-risk strategy to grow their assets over time and generate income to fund the administration costs and distributions to the Settlement Trust. 


About the Role

With oversight from the Board and support from the staff team, the General Manager (Investment Focus) will lead the Investment Trust’s investment strategy and revenue investment growth.

The role is titled General Manager (Investment Focus), with delegations from the Investment Trust to lead the investment portfolio development and grow in broader General Manager skills under the mentoring of the Trustees.  You will be required to work collaboratively with the Settlement Trust’s Group Chief Executive.

It is based in Masterton, but there can be flexibility in location near to that area. However, it is a role where presence in-community and with whānau is very important.


About You

Given the importance of this role in a new Settlement, you will be a person who gives us confidence in your track-record of being able to grow the investment base of our Trust with sound judgement and commercial astuteness.

This is a role for a sound investment manager who is structured in the ability to analyse and undertake due diligence on new opportunities, and the performance of existing.  Your drive will be balanced by the understanding of the need for sustainable approaches to the development of the iwi and an ability to relate to whānau.
