About the Organisation:
CORT Community Housing manages more than 400  houses across Tāmaki Makaurau, providing homes for more than 600 people. An experienced developer of new housing, the organisation has nearly $200m in assets and is nearing the completion of pipeline of 100 additional homes.  CORT Community Housing is dedicated to ensuring that even those with significant housing barriers have a place in the community.

CORTs work as a supportive landlord encompasses both the development of high-quality housing developments with a service that promotes community connection and strong partnerships with social service supported organisations. 

The organisation is guided by principles of social justice, community-based solutions , and inclusion, helping to bridge the gap between vulnerable populations and stable living conditions. Through their efforts, CORT plays a vital role in alleviating housing shortages and improving the quality of life for many New Zealanders.


About the role:
Your strong connection with CORTs values and mission will underpin your contribution across the organisation. You will combine strong analytical skills and critical thinking to support the assessment of future growth opportunities for the trust, and to manage and mitigate risk. 

Specifically, your strong background in finance will support the trust to prudently manage its current financial position and provide strategic financial insights. 


 Key outcomes:
    Provide effective values-based governance and leadership, including chairing the finance and risk committee. 
•    Work closely with the Board Chair, CEO and other key staff to ensure strong alignment of financial performance and strategic goals.  
•    Ensure CORT has robust governance practises, with a particular focus on monitoring financial position and risk.

 You bring to the role:
•    A strong connection to CORT’s values and mission.
•    Governance or leadership experience. 
•    Critical thinking with a focus on consensus-based decision making. 
•    Strong background in finance. 
•    Confident and clear oral and written   communication skills.
•    Familiarity with the non-for-profit sector, in-particular housing and/or social services.
